Story

It is the untold true story happened before the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. Pakistan left the submarine named as ‘PNS Ghazi’ in the Bay of Bengal towards Bangladesh in 1971. Pakistan wanted to destroy INS Vikrant and the Visakhapatnam Navy Base by this submarine. This was a classified mission achieved by the Indian Navy.  That’s why; Indian Navy Soldiers weren’t rewarded for this brave mission.

You can see in the movie that the Indian Navy recruits a team of three officers-Captain Ranvijay Singh (Kay Kay Menon), Lt. Commander Arjun Verma (Rana Daggubati), and Executive Officer Devraj (Atul Kulkarni) on this mission.

Pakistan is claiming that PNS Ghazi was not destroyed by the Indian Navy. The truth remains hidden till date.

However, in the movie, it will be interesting to see that how these three officers become successful to destroy PNS Ghazi!

Plus Points:

First, Kudos to Sankalp Reddy for telling this untold saga achieved by the Indian Navy.   For the first time, you will see the underwater war on the Indian screen for. This movie is a milestone in the Indian Cinema.  It is the war of mind games.  This kind of movie is not made by India till date.

You will be amazed by this underwater war.  The first half shows the confrontation between three officers. Then it shows mind games to destroying PNS Ghazi. The last half hour is interesting when the Indian Submarine and the Pakistani Submarine come face to face. The movie keeps you glued to your seat till the climax.

The movie is filled with entertainment and thrill.  This war has played by mind games, not by using violence.  Though this war has played in the limited space of submarines, you will be intrigued well by it.

The movie looks authentic.  Dialogues have technical details about submarines.  Those submarines look real.

Talking about performances, Kay Kay Menon looks combative with his character. Also, there is an emotional side to this character. Rana Daggubati and Atul Kulkarni have done brilliant performances too.  Om Puri shines in the small role.

Special Effects are amazing. The cinematography is nice.

Minus Points:

The editing is average. Some scenes end abruptly.  The direction takes the unnecessary cinematic liberty.  Taapsee Pannu is wasted in the movie.  There is not much scope for her character.

Is this movie worth a watch?

Absolutely Yes! It is an unsung achievement of the Indian Navy. By watching this movie, you will feel proud of the Indian Navy’s courage. It is a first Indian cinema, which revolves around submarines.

It is a must-watch movie!
