Raman (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is a psycho killer who enjoys killing people. He claims himself the messenger of the God. He is a mentally disturbed killer who even kills his sister and her family. Raghav (Vicky Kaushal) is a police cop who is behind Raman. Raghav is a drug addict police officer. Who hates his father as well as women. Raghav is similar like Raman. He kills his girlfriend without any reason. Why does Raman Kill people? Will Raghav arrest Raghav? There is a connection between Raman and Raghav.
What is this connection? To know answers, you have to watch Raman Raghav 2.0!
Critic’s Conclusion- Raman Raghav 2.0 is a based on the real life Serial Killer Raman Raghav who had murdered 41 people in Mumbai in the 60’s era. That Raman Raghav exists in today’s modern era in the movie.
The movie has written by Anurag Kashyap along with Vasan Bala. The director has shown Raman’s mentality perfectly. We can see in the movie how is Raman cruel? Raman sees this world with his own view of point. He likes killing people, but he hates those people who kill other people in the name of the religion. Raghav also kills people due to his dark past.
The script is weak. Too many details have shown for main protagonists, or we can say, antagonists. The first half is gripping. But second half loses its space. The movie drags in the second half. Raghav’s track is not too impressive. There have taken more cinematic liberties which can harm the movie.
But Anurag has directed this dark thriller brilliantly. Black humor and dark presentation of characters are specialties of Anurag, and here he shows them with the pinch of entertainment. He brings his favorite Quentin Tarantino style in the movie which he could avoid. The film is over-violent, some scenes are disturbing.
Talking about performances, Nawazuddin Siddiqui steals the show! His dialogue delivery, cruelty in his eyes, his style of showing the mentality of Raman all is amazing. He is the delight of his fans in the movie. Nawazuddin is unpredictable and he will scare you on the screen, for sure! On the other hand,
Vicky Kaushal has complimented Nawazuddin by his performance. The rest of the cast helps to take the movie forward.
The music is not impressive, but the background music helps the movie to create that dark environment. The editing is average. The movie should trim by 15 to 20 minutes to make it crispier!
Overall, if you want to spend your weekend with any spine-chilling psycho thriller, Watch Raman Raghav 2.0!
