Raid (2018) Story:
Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgn) is an honest income tax officer. He gets information about MLA Rameshwar Singh aka Tauji (Saurabh Shukla) that he has assets worth around Rs 420 crore. Tauji is a powerful politician. So, it is very risky to conduct a raid at Tauji’s house. But Amay takes this risk away. In what way does he find the hidden property with his team? What kind of pressures does he have to tolerate? Who is the winner in this battle between Tauji and Amay? To know answers, you have to watch ‘Raid’ in the theater!
In 1981, the income tax department in Lucknow has conducted raids on ‘high profile’ tax evaders. This film is about this real incident.
The story is engaging. The story is about a raid that lasts for hours. The camera rotates on the same location most of the time. The film’s hero also appears in the same dress in most of the time. In this case, there is difficult to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. But the director makes this story impressive and thrilling until the last minute.
The story, written by Ritesh Shah is the story of two strong characters in which, one is very honest, and then the other is very dishonest. The script is written in such way that the viewers are bound by the movie. You will guess through the entire movie that what will happen in the next scene.
Dialogues are interesting and they have punches. Especially, the confrontation scene between Amay and Tauji is a watch worthy.
There are some light-hearted scenes in this intense movie. Tauji’s mother’s scenes are comical.
Rajkumar Gupta’s direction is tight. He is successful in keeping interest in the story, which does not have much to the show.
The editing is crisp. The cinematography helps the narrative.
Ajay Devgn looks perfect as the honest income tax officer’s character. His performance is quite straightforward, and he takes the audience with him from the first frame itself.
Tauji’s character can play actors like Saurabh Shukla only! He captures the details of this character and shines till the last frame. His dialogue delivery is superb.
Though Ileana D’cruz has less screen space in the movie, she is decent in her role. Pushpa Joshi, as Tauji’s mother, leaves the impact in a small role.
The movie loses its impact towards its climax. The climax could be more dramatic if the suspense had interesting.
The music is good. However, unnecessary songs make the movie tedious and lengthy.
Is This Movie Worth to Watch?
Yes. Watch for intense drama and performances of Ajay Devgn and Saurabh Shukla.
