Critic’s conclusion- Though the story is predictable, Director Mudassar Aziz has presented it in the engaging and unique manner. The script is tight. He has surprised us by giving this light-hearted and entertaining movie after the disastrous movie ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ (2010). The film has such moments which make us laugh. However, the movie has an ‘Anand L.Rai ‘stamp over the entire movie. Characters are interesting and relatable. The comic scenes are not looking forced anywhere in the movie. They are well written by the director. Though the movie has a background of India-Pakistan relationship, there is not any political statement about it in the movie. It has light-hearted moments about this relationship. The movie tries to tell that people in both countries are same. There are many brilliant gigs about India-Pakistan such as culture in both countries, the difference in Hindi-Urdu, Pakistani people’s fondness for Hindi movies etc.
The first half is entertaining, while the second half drags. There are too many sub-plots added in the movie which spoil the second half. Romantic angles of characters and kidnapping track look forced in the movie. Nevertheless, the movie becomes interesting towards its climax.
This movie’s another asset is that it has got good performers. Diana Penty as Happy has given the energetic and interesting performance. What’s more, she has looked beautiful in the movie. Abhay Deol is impressive. Though Ali Fazal has given less space, he has done the commendable job. Though Jimmy Sheirgill is good in his performance, he has done ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ once again. We are giving special
mention to Piyush Mishra, who is amazing as a Pakistani Cop! Momal Sheikh has given promising debut. The dialogues are hilarious. The music could be better. The editing is crispy. The cinematography is beautiful.
Overall, it is a family entertainer light-hearted movie. Watch it and be Happy!
