Gaurav Chandana (Shah Rukh Khan) lives in Delhi and is a Die-Hard Fan of the superstar Aryan Khanna (Shah Rukh Khan). Aryan is a “God” for Gaurav. Even he resembles Aryan. Gaurav wins his colony’s competition by imitating Aryan’s dance steps. He wants to meet his favorite superstar Aryan Khanna to his birthday just for five minutes. He comes to Mumbai without the ticket. He visits Aryan by using the wrong way. Therefore, Aryan doesn’t want to meet him even for five minutes. Gaurav doesn’t like Aryan’s attitude and he wants to take revenge from him. What will happen next? Will Gaurav realize his mistakes? What will the end of this fan-superstar love-hate relationship? Who will win this fight, Gaurav or Aryan? To know answers, you have to watch “Fan!”
Critic’s Conclusion– Fan revolves around an obsessive fan. It shows that what happens if any fan crosses his/her limit of fandom. Director Maneesh Sharma brings a unique as well as the challenging concept this time. The director tries to show the moods of both characters-
Aryan and Gaurav and he has become successful in it. The first half is entertaining and engaging. We connect with Gaurav’s madness for his superstar in the first half. The director shoots this part with reality. But the real problem comes with the second half. Though the second half shows the negative side of Gaurav, it becomes illogical and unbelievable. In the second half, we see such illogical sequences. Also, the script is not strong somewhere in this part. The first half is fresh, gripping and interesting while the second half is disappointed and boring.
The script has many loopholes. How come Aryan does not take the help of the police regarding Gaurav’s matter? Why does Aryan want to find Gaurav? Why does he keep this secret from everyone? Even Gaurav’s such evil plans look illogical and unbelievable. The climax should be
positive. The director could present this story in a realistic manner. The movie feels boring sometimes. However, the director has done the brave job in the movie so that the movie does not look like any typical Bollywood movie. The chase scenes between Gaurav and Aryan are
Though there are many flaws in the movie, it becomes entertaining and watchable because of Shah Rukh Khan only! The entire movie revolves around him. His performance is different in both characters. He uses different body languages for both characters. As Gaurav, he has done the commendable job. His madness, his over-obsessiveness towards his favorite actor, his innocence, his anger, his happiness etc. all are perfect. He makes Gaurav entertaining. He is not bad in Aryan’s role too. For Aryan’s role, the movie has taken such facts from Shah Rukh’s life. In the movie, we get to see such facts of Shah Rukh Khan’s real life in the details. We should appreciate Shah Rukh’s efforts and hard work as he has come from his comfort zone for this movie. He doesn’t show his usual “Shah Rukh Khan Style” in the movie.
Both roles (especially Gaurav’s role) are very tough and challenging for him. Shriya Pilgaonkar, Waluscha De Sousa, Sayani Gupta are good in their small roles. The rest of the cast is ok.
There are no songs in the movie. “Jabra Fan” is already popular on the Chartbuster. The Editing should be crispy as the movie has a slow pace somewhere. The Cinematography is good.
Dialogues are catchy and entertaining. The background score is amazing though it is inspired by a Hollywood movie.
Overall, It is a “Fan”tastic movie for fans and non-fans of Shah Rukh Khan. Watch it!
