Story- Jai (Sidharth Malhotra) and Diya (Katrina Kaif) are childhood friends. When they grow up, fall in love with each other. Jai is a mathematics professor, while Diya is a painter. Jai is a commitment phobic boy, who wants to do a bigger career in Mathematics. On the other side, Diya believes in finding happiness in the small things and moments in life. Before their wedding day, Jai confesses his real aim of his life and denies marrying her. Jia gets heartbroken. She tells him that she will never come back in his life. Jai sleeps after gulping down the full bottle of champagne. When he wakes up, he finds himself 10 days ahead. Every time he wakes up from his sleep, he goes to his future. He sees the results of his mistakes done in the past in the future. Finally, he decides to change his present to prevent from making those mistakes. Will he do that? Will he marry Dia? To know answers, you have to watch Baar Baar Dekho!
Critic’s conclusion- Well, the movie is another attempt of showing the concept ‘Time Travel.’ Though the story is refreshingly good, the script has made it weak. Director Nitya Mehra has shown this theme in a complicated way. The audience will confuse like as Jai by seeing this mess! The movie runs in different time zones.
The director has portrayed today’s young generation’s commitment problem, in the first half very well. The first half is giving beautiful moments between Jai-Diya. It has in a light-hearted manner. However, the second half is slow. We get irritated as the movie runs frequently in past and present. The movie stretches due to such scenes.
Another loophole of the movie is its weaker script. It puts the logic aside. How can this possible that Diya is unaware about Jai’s ambitions despite being with him for so many years? Though Dia proposes Jai, she has a typical Indian mentality, and she expects similar thoughts from Jai. On the other side, Jai is looking confused despite having an independent personality. Even Dia’s strong personality has not portrayed clearly in the movie. Dia is shown as a traditional girl; she forgets this while dancing in the bikini.
Though the plotline is unique, it doesn’t show any new thought to us. It has treated as a glossy and slick movie, but lacks in substance.
Talking about performances, Sidharth Malhotra is good in some parts, but fails to show deep emotions. Katrina Kaif looks beautiful in the movie, despite lacking in the acting department. Both the actors have not shown any difference in their body languages while playing old aged characters. Ram Kapoor is interesting. Sarika is brilliant in her job. The rest of the cast helps to take movie forward.
We can see beautiful locals in the movie thanks to Ravi. K. Chandran’s beautiful cinematography. The editing is average. The music is already is the blockbuster. The production values are fantastic.
All in all, don’t watch this movie even once.
