Who will rescue Mini-Vidya or Inderjeet? What are her secrets? To know answers, you have to watch Kahani 2: Durga Rani Singh!
Critic’s Conclusion- Kahani 2: Durga Rani Singh is not a sequel of the movie Kahani, but the sequel of Kahani Franchise. First, Sujoy Ghosh should appreciate for presenting the social issue ‘Child Sexual Abuse’ with maturely and sensitively on the screen. He makes the gripping and intriguing thriller with this sensitive subject. He makes the movie real with real locations. He sets a perfect tone for this thriller which makes us hooked till the end.
The movie has a fast pace till the first half. All the major incidents happen in the first half in a quick movie disappoints you. The second half gets a typical Bollywood masala formula which is unnecessary in this movie. The director could avoid it.
The movie looks fake in the second half. The climax is average.
The sequel is not a typical suspense-thriller movie. The suspense has already revealed in the first half. But it will be interesting to see the journey of the protagonist-Vidya Sinha.
Talking about performances, Vidya Balan is the ‘hero’ of the movie. She makes every character believable. Kahani 2 is the another proof of her talent. She plays the double role with ease and brilliantly. She portrays the pain of the working mother perfectly. She has made a mark as a performer with her character in this movie. Due to her deglam look, she seems either Vidya Sinha or Durga Rani Singh on the screen, not Vidya Balan. Arjun Rampal has played his character in an interesting manner. Naisha Khanna, Jugal Hansraj, Kharaj Mukherjee have acted their parts with conviction.
The cinematography is another asset of the movie. Be it Kolkata or Chandanpur, they play as characters in the movie. The background music helps the narrative.
Overall, Kahani 2: Durga Rani Singh could become an intriguing thriller, but it fails because of its predictability in the second half. Watch it only for Vidya Balan!
