How do Geeta and Babita fulfill their father’s dream, what are the challenges which they had to face during their struggle? Will they win the gold medal in wrestling? To know answers, you have to watch ‘Dangal!’
Critic’s conclusion- Director Nitesh Tiwari has presented the interesting as well as an inspirational story with ‘Dangal.’ The script is strong. The movie engages us with its first scene. The first scene makes viewers clapping and whistling in the cinema hall.
The movie tells about a big social issue- gender inequality. However, the director doesn’t put forward it in a serious as well as the preachy tone. He makes this story filled with humor and emotions. The story happens in Haryana, where the Girls are meant to do house-chords only. Mahavir Singh Phogat fights with his relatives and society to make his daughters wrestlers.
The first half is wonderfully woven with memorable scenes. It shows the difficult yet the inspirational journey of Phogat sisters for becoming wrestlers. The director has shown each scene in a gripping and entertaining manner.
The second half is also engaging. The director has shown wrestling matches in details. He shows each technique of wrestling perfectly in the movie. All wrestling scenes are nail-biting, real and watchable. Even people those are uninterested in wrestling will get more knowledge about this game.
The movie is a mixture of courage, social message, dreams and passions regarding unconventional path, dedication, hard-work, and patriotism. It tells that a lack of materials can’t end our dreams and passion. We can achieve our dreams against all odds and barriers surrounding us. The movie is a real, gritty, and emotional saga.
There is a scene in a movie in which, when Geeta wins a gold medal in the Commonwealth games and Indian national anthem starts in the background, viewers feel proud and stand automatically in the Cinema hall with honor.
Talking about performances, Aamir Khan has seen as Mahavir Singh Phogat on the screen. He lives his character with 100% perfection. His transformation from Young Mahavir to aged Mahavir is amazing. He plays the strict yet the emotional father convincingly. Younger Geeta and Babita (Zaira Wasim, Suhani Bhatnagar) are adorable. They’re natural in their parts. Young Geeta and Babita (Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra) complement them with their commendable performances. Sakshi Tanwar, Vivan Bhatena, Girish Kulkarni, Aparshakti Khurrana make their impact very well.
Dialogues are inspirational and punchy. The cinematography helps the narrative. The editing doesn’t make movie heavy on your mind. The songs help advance the movie. Art direction is splendid. The special mention goes to VFX work, which gives high-end value to sequences of commonwealth games and world champions on the screen.
Overall, Dangal is a real Hindi cinema. You shouldn’t avoid this wonderful experience. Watch it now!
